screc

Privacy

Last updated 21 August 2026

screc collects no data about you, transmits nothing, and makes no network requests at all. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no account, and no telemetry of any kind.

What screc does with your recordings

Recordings are written to the location you choose — a temporary folder that clears itself by default, or any folder you point it at. They stay on your Mac. screc never uploads them, never inspects their contents, and has no server to send them to.

Permissions, and why they are asked for

Each of these is granted by you in System Settings and can be revoked there at any time.

Third parties

None. screc bundles no analytics or advertising libraries, and shares data with nobody, because it has no data to share.

Links you can choose to open

The app contains links to this site, to the source repository on GitHub, and to a tip page. Nothing is contacted unless you click one, at which point your browser visits that site under its own privacy policy.

Purchases

If you bought screc from the Mac App Store, Apple handled the transaction and screc receives no payment or identity information from it. Apple's own privacy policy governs that purchase.

Children

screc is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, regardless of age.

Changes

Should this ever change — it is not planned — the revised policy will appear on this page with a new date, and any release that begins collecting data would say so in its release notes.
